Transition Planning Worksheet

Introduction

The Transition Planning Worksheet provides workspace for developing transition plans. The Transition Planning Worksheet is intended to describe proposed changes in enterprise activities, resource use, and management over a defined planning horizon. The overriding idea behind the Transition Planning Worksheet is to provide you the space to plan how changes are to be implemented across time to allow your operation to move from where it currently is toward its strategic goals.

The Transition Planning Worksheet is broken into three major sections: (1) enterprise changes, (2) resource changes, and (3) SWOT (strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats) analysis.

In the Proposed Enterprise Changes section, the Transition Planning Worksheet provides space to record descriptions of limiting resources, various enterprises planned for your operation, and changes proposed for each enterprise activity over time. This should include beginning benchmarks, proposed changes, and ending benchmarks being recorded for each enterprise.

The Resource Changes section of the Transition Planning Worksheet provides space for recording proposed changes in resource management for four different resource categories: (1) natural and agronomic, (2) livestock/wildlife, (3) human, and (4) financial.

Finally, the SWOT section of the Transition Planning Worksheet is intended to prompt the user to consider what strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats are faced by the operation at each stage of the planning horizon.

The Transition Planning Worksheet is intended to provide you with a unique perspective on the collective changes proposed for your operation over time. It can be used to record intended changes to enterprise management, changes in the management of particular resources, and/or changes needed to attain a particular benchmark measure by a given point in time.
